apples project- complete
What i ended up doing for the apples project was for the first panel scanning in both a green and red apple. I used the green apple as the base apple and then cropped parts of the red apple and pasted them on top of the green apple. I altered the color of the green apple on a separate file and turned it more yellow. I then cropped areas of the newly yellow apple and also pasted them on the green apple. I used the smudge tool to blend the red and yellow areas into the green apple. This panel was meant to represent color. In the next pannel i cut an apple in half and carved the nyc skyline into it and scanned it. origianlly i had just the apple but then i decided to add an "I" in text and then from the red apple carved out a heart. Therefore, the panel read "I love NY". This panel was meant to represent culture. For the third panel I scanned the bottom of both red and green apples and cropped them so they looked like flowers. I then arranged them in a certain pattern. I then bit around the core of an apple and scanned that. I placed the apple core at the bottom of the panel to be the flower pot and then i drew lines from the flowers to the core to be the stems. This was supposed to represent shape. For the last panel i took the other half of the green apple and carved the word sin into it. I then drew a tree that said "forbidden" on it. This panel was supposed to represent the history of adam and eve and the sinful apple growing from the forbidden tree. In class we did critiques of everyone's work. My favorite was the guava because of the use of color and how abstract it was. I took a very literal approach and i thought it was interesting to see a more abstract approach. Also i liked seeing the other project on apples because she also took a more abstract approach and i thought it was interesting to compare our approaches especially because we did some of the same categories.
